Cunard Line has just announced details of an historic royal rendezvous planned for Sydney this February, when Queen Mary 2 and the new Queen Elizabeth will meet on Sydney Harbour for the first time. Now that is a seriously BIG meeting, given the size of the two grand dames in question. The RR on February 22-23 will mark Queen Elizabeth's first visit to Australia on her inaugural world voyage and the first time she and her larger sister, Queen Mary 2, have met outside QM2's homeports of Southampton and New York.
The Queens will meet off Sydney Heads shortly before 5.30am on February 22, before Queen Mary 2 leads her younger sister into the Harbour - the first time two Cunard liners have ever arrived in Sydney in tandem. Queen Elizabeth will berth at Circular Quay at around 7am, sounding her whistle to say hi to sister Mary. http://www.cunard.com/
